Job Description

  • Working closely with the Design team to formulate preliminary space plans and produce two- and three-dimensional design concepts that are functional, within budget and aesthetically pleasing
  • Understand the structural requirements of the plans, life safety issues, building codes and other technical aspects
  • Communicate with clients, consultants and contractors as required and directed by Project Manager or Project Director
  • Understand and have working knowledge of materials and products that will be used to create and furnish the space and how texture, colour, lighting and other factors combine and interact to make a space
  • Prepare working drawings and assist with specifications for interior construction, space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, furnishings, fixtures, equipment and millwork; create sample boards; knowledgeable in the areas of building construction, building materials,  specifications, codes, technical drawing and business practices
  • Collaborate  with other consultants who offer professional services in the technical areas of mechanical, electrical and structural design as well as any specialty consultants as required
  • Administer contract documents, bids and negotiations as the client’s consultant as required
  • Prepare permit and tender documents
  • Carry out construction administration under supervision of leadership
  • Understanding of project fee and client budget – utilizing bst and reporting to the director of Practice
  • Manage  small projects alone and significant portions or larger,  more complex projects

Position Requirements:

  • 5+ yrs experience
  • Relevant industry experience as an interior designer, (healthcare interior experience an advantage)
  • Strong technical skills (AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup/3D Max, MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Understand the design process and able to comprehend the client’s needs and goals
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills required to undertake multiple projects or facets of various projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Licensed or accredited in local industry body
